Camden Nature Recovery Corridor

Great news from the Camden Nature Recovery Corridor team, where the first stretch has been mapped out from Hampstead Heath to Talacre Town Green in Kentish Town. Jeff Waage, who leads this inspiring ‘win for Nature/ win for Community’ initiative, reports:
“The new draft Camden Local Plan has been released and this new version includes the Camden Nature Corridor as an infrastructure priority for Central and Northern Camden. Which means it would require the development of Murphy’s Yard, Regis Road Estate and the West Kentish Town Estate Re-development to support its delivery. The plan is up for consultation until June 27. If you are thinking of commenting, support for the Camden Nature Corridor would be helpful! “
The organisers want to build on links with TRAs and local nature groups, made on recent walks along the proposed route, and also would love to hear any ideas for promoting and developing the Corridor. Please contact jeff.k.waage@gmail.com if you have questions or would like to contribute ideas and help for this project. Or to connect a local green space you actively help care for to this brilliant initiative.
And What if….? in addition to the big N/S Nature Recovery Corridor – we also work together to create networks of smaller Nature Recovery sites in local parks, school and housing estate grounds and back gardens? Woven together in a new Web of Wellbeing for Nature and ourselves? Creating a new ways to map and navigate our local spaces? Connected by Beelines and Community Gardens and Jammy Hedgerows. Blossoming street trees and pesticide free back gardens. And urban rewilding in parks and local greenspaces, and Council estate and school grounds.
