Kentish Town Street Swaps
The next Street Swaps is on Saturday 18th April at the Hampstead Heath Education Centre, Parliament Hill Fields Lido, Gordon House Road entrance, London NW5. This event takes place on UK Action for Nature Day, so we’re adding a special ‘Nature Swap’ meetup and ideas swap session for local nature care groups to the usual Street Swap action.
The event runs from 10am – 3.0pm and if you live in nearby streets you’ll receive invitations to join the Street Swapping action on your street, and at the Street Swap stall. And if you live a bit further away, you can also join the fun by just bringing your items to the swap stall.
Why we’re swapping instead of shopping?

Street Swaps are TKT / Think & Do Camden partnership events, with support from the Camden Climate Fund.
They are designed to help us ‘SWAP instead of SHOP’, and enjoy the sociability and satisfaction of ‘getting a bargain’ (in this case by swapping something we no longer want for something we’d love to have). And also by repairing, adapting and sharing the things we need.
Let’s make Street Swap events a regular part of local life, as part of a wider ‘swap n’ share / reuse n’ repair’ culture.
We’re monitoring these events to discover what helps us swap and share most effectively. We’d also love to hear more about the swapping and ‘community recycling’ that we know is already happening on local streets and neighbourhoods. So we can make Street Swaps, and swapping and sharing generally, a regular part of local life. Because,, by swapping and sharing with one another – rather than being seduced to just keep on buying new – or feel bad if you can’t? – we can all not only have ‘enough’, but become more connected, resilient and social too!
